Supplement Importance
Written By Nutriwonders
We at Nutriwonders seek to
offer you the latest research on the effectiveness of various food and
vitamin supplements. The reasoning behind offering this information
has to do with the diminution of the nutrient value of common foods
over the last thirty or so years. We point out that an agency of the
Federal Govenment, the United States Department of Agricultue, did a
study which demonstrated that a "balanced diet" could not
deliver the RDA (recommended daily allowance) established by the FDA
(Food and Drug Administation). It is clear then that food and vitamin
supplements have become essential to optimal health. By "optimal
health" we intend that it is the health required for the best performance
that each individual can manifest in his daily life. This paradigm would
suggest that the 55 million people in this country who are (according
to some studies) "clinically depressed" are in that condition
at least partially because of lack of sufficient nutrients that are
conducive to optimal mental and emotional functioning. The same might
be said for the fact that this country has more neonatal deaths (deaths
of newborns) than twenty-one of the other industrialized and medically
sophisticated countries of the world. We medicate for almost everything
in this country. These medications have indeed saved lives. Unfortunately,
the medications do not add anything to the body. Only food adds to the
body and it is this nutrition which must be in place in order for the
medication to work. From the foregoing and other reasons as well, it
would seem imperative therefore that considerable attention be paid
to the use of food supplements and vitamins to assure that if medication
is needed, that the material required for its proper functioning is
in the body. That having been said, following is a review of some food
supplements and vitamins which have been shown, through medical research,
to be effective in alleviating the cause of various unhealthy conditions.
Vitamin C relieves a condition
which is characterized by general ill health, tiredness, mental confusion,
skin spots and swollen gums.
Vitamin B1 relieves a condition
characterized by nerve degenration and sometimes swelling of the hands
and feet and heart failure.
Vitamin B l2 relieves tiredness
and the type of anemia that causes it.
Folic Acid taken by a woman
before she conceives is necessary to insure the prevention of spina
bifida and the mental debility of the child.
Magnesium and Essential Fatty
Acids (EFAs) are necessary for the prevention of osteoporosis.
Calcium, Vitamin D (D3 or
Cholecalciferol) and Magnesium must be taken together to pevent osteomalacia
(rickets). There is evidence that synthetic Vitamin D will actually
"leach" the calcium from the body. Natural vitamin D (D3 or
cholecalciferol) is a natural component of cod liver oil.
Chromium is also
called Glucose Tolerance Factor (GTF). It is a necessary trace mineral
in the body. It was discovered by medical reseachers many years ago.
It is necessary to help transport insulin and glucose into the cell.
The most effective form is chromium picolinate. If glucose (sugar) cannot
get into your cells, then you cannot function. Your brain requires glucose
as its only source of energy.
Here's wishing you EXCELLENT
HEALTH!!
